1st Shift Heavy Equipment Mechanic
(7 a.m. - 3 p.m.)
The mechanic is responsible for preventative maintenance, diagnosing, repair, and assembly of all company heavy equipment and vehicles.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Determine what tools and parts are necessary to make repairs
Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems as well as preventative maintenance
Keeps a log of equipment and vehicle maintenance
Adhere to safety requirements by MSHA and the company
Maintains work area in a safe and clean manner
Input repairs and maintenance into the KOMS system
Performs other tasks as requested by the mechanic shop supervisor
Required Skills/Abilities:
Good manual dexterity
Ability to read schematics
Good communication skills
Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.
Close attention to detail
Ability to work with a team or work independently depending on the project
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, pull, and lift
Education and Experience:
Proven work experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic
Specific electrical, hydraulic, and/or A/C training a plus
Brand-specific training a plus (especially CAT later model equipment)
